A selection of pubs I’ve visited in the last year or so that I would call proper pubs, of course that term can mean different things to different people, for instance can a pub without cask ale (real ale) be a proper pub? To me it can but may be a few years ago I would disagree, times, pubs and people change.
The Angel, Rotherhithe, no real ale in this Sam Smiths pub but a good basic boozer.
With great views of town, up river from the rear drinking balcony.
Nearby is The Mayflower
A lovely old Tavern Style pub originally opened in 1780 as The Shippe, it became The Mayflower in 1958, probably best to avoid Sunday lunchtimes, as it was rammed.
North of the river in Shoreditch is The Barley Mow. A small one roomed corner pub with a choice of four cask beers.
The Constitution in Camden Town,
A proper old school boozer
The Florist Arms , in Bethnal Green.
This pub makes a great double header with The Camel a hundred yards or so up the road
That’s just a few of my favourite London pubs, there are plenty of others and indeed other places.
