2018 pubs Of The Year Part Two

April

The Wonston Arms – Wonston

wonston arms

April’s pub goes to The Wonston Arm’s ,currently a CAMRA top four national pub of the year , I await February’s results, but know it’s more than worthy. The local community got together and saved the village  from being a pub desert, the transformation from a near derelict pub a mere two or three years ago is quite remarkable.Wonston arms april 2015

Always worth a visit, a testament as to what can be achieved in the face of adversity.

May

The Hope – Carshalton

May belongs firmly to The Hope  ,  a pub I had targeted for some time based on its reputation, having never visited the pub or town before. It didn’t disappoint, a classic traditional pub offering the best well kept beers from miles around, a beer tickers paradise but a top pub to boot.

June

The Nags Head  – Reading

Nags Head (2)

Another pub I attend on a reasonably regular basis, luckily for me its only a forty minute bus ride away and one of the premier beer pubs in the south. Another success story, a decade ago it was a desperate excuse for a boozer, now its the real deal.

Part three to follow possibly tomorrow.
